Jan Mlčoch

Jan certainly belongs among the amateur photographers. This is not to downplay his work in any way. We should understand that word in its primary adapted meaning as a man who doesn´t do some work for living, but for pleasure. The word is taken from the Latin "amare", which means to like, to love.

At age about twenty-five years, Jan began experimenting with light painting, a photographic technique using very long exposure times and working with light. He mostly uses BW medium formate film and after developing he magnifies the prints by himself without any digital manipulation. This unusual technique captivated him and totally dominated his work.
